How do I download a YouTube thumbnail?

Copy the video link from the address bar or the Share button, paste it into the box above and click Get thumbnail. Pick a size and click Download.

Does it work with YouTube Shorts?

Yes. Paste a Shorts link (youtube.com/shorts/...) and you get the same thumbnail sizes as a normal video.

Why is there no Full HD version for some videos?

YouTube only creates a 1280×720 thumbnail when the video was uploaded in HD or has a custom thumbnail. For older or low-quality uploads, the largest size is 640×480 or 480×360.

Can I use someone else's thumbnail?

Thumbnails belong to the channel that made them. Downloading one for reference, research or to back up your own videos is fine, but ask the creator before you reuse it in your own content.

Does it work on my phone?

Yes. It works in any mobile browser. If the download does not start, the image opens in a new tab, where you can long-press it and choose Save image.
