Works with public TikTok videos. Paste the link from the Share button (Copy link) or your browser.

How to download a TikTok thumbnail

  1. Open the video in the TikTok app, tap Share and choose Copy link. On a computer, copy the link from the address bar.
  2. Paste the link into the box above. The cover loads in a second.
  3. Click Download thumbnail to save the image.

Why save TikTok covers?

  • Study what gets clicks: save the covers of the top videos in your niche and compare text, faces and colours.
  • Back up your own videos: keep a copy of your covers for reposts, portfolios and brand decks.
  • Plan your grid: line up covers to see how your profile looks before you post.

Make covers that stand out

A good TikTok cover uses 3 to 5 big words, one clear subject and strong contrast, and keeps the text in the middle so it is not cut off on the profile grid. Put yours next to the covers you saved and make sure it is the one your eye goes to first.

Frequently asked questions

How do I download a TikTok thumbnail?

Open the video in TikTok, tap Share and choose Copy link. Paste the link into the box above, click Get thumbnail, then click Download thumbnail.

Is the TikTok thumbnail the same as the cover?

Yes. The thumbnail is the cover image TikTok shows on the profile grid and in search. This tool downloads the cover TikTok serves for that video.

What size is a TikTok thumbnail?

TikTok covers are vertical (9:16). The exact size depends on the video; the tool shows the real width and height before you download.

Why does a video not load?

The video must be public. Private videos, deleted videos and some age-restricted videos cannot be loaded. If you pasted a short link (vm.tiktok.com), open it in your browser and copy the full link instead.

Can I use someone else's TikTok cover?

Covers belong to the creator who posted the video. Saving one for reference, research or to back up your own videos is fine, but ask the creator before you reuse it in your own content.

Does it work on my phone?

Yes. It works in any mobile browser. If the download does not start, the image opens in a new tab, where you can long-press it and choose Save image.
