What raises your Instagram rate

  • Engagement: creators with above-average engagement usually charge more.
  • Niche: finance, tech and beauty brands tend to pay more than general lifestyle.
  • Audience country: followers in the US, UK, Canada and Australia are worth more to most brands.
  • Usage rights: if a brand runs your content as paid ads, ask for more.

Frequently asked questions

How much do Instagram influencers make per post?

According to Influencer Marketing Hub's 2026 benchmarks, a sponsored feed post typically pays about $10–$100 for nano creators (under 10,000 followers), $100–$500 for micro (10,000–100,000), $500–$5,000 for mid-tier (100,000–500,000), $5,000–$10,000 for macro (500,000–1 million) and $10,000+ for mega creators.

Does Instagram pay you for followers or views?

Not directly for followers. Most Instagram income comes from brand deals, plus features such as subscriptions, gifts and affiliate links where available. Followers matter because brands pay more to reach a bigger, engaged audience.

How do I calculate my Instagram engagement rate?

Add the likes and comments on your recent posts, divide by the number of posts to get an average, divide that by your follower count and multiply by 100. Many accounts land between 1% and 3%.

Do Reels pay more than feed posts?

Usually. Later's 2026 guide puts Reels about 20–30% above a baseline feed post and Stories about 50% below, often bundled with other content.

How many followers do you need to make money on Instagram?

Brands work with nano creators from about 1,000 followers, but pay rises sharply past 10,000 followers, when you enter the micro tier. Engagement and niche can matter as much as follower count.
