How Much Does YouTube Pay Per Subscriber? 1K, 100K and 1M Subs

It is one of the most searched YouTube money questions, and the answer surprises most people: YouTube does not pay you anything for a subscriber. Subscribers help you get views, and views on a monetized channel are what pay. Below you will find what channels with 1,000, 10,000, 100,000 and 1 million subscribers can realistically earn, with the maths shown so you can check it.
Why subscribers do not equal money
A subscriber is someone who clicked a button, maybe years ago. Many subscribers never watch new uploads, and most views on many channels come from search and recommendations, not from subscribers. Two channels with 100,000 subscribers can earn wildly different amounts, because one gets 2 million views a month and the other gets 50,000.
So the right formula is not subscribers × a rate. It is: monthly earnings = monthly views ÷ 1,000 × RPM. RPM is what you keep per 1,000 views after YouTube's share.

What channels earn, by monthly views
| Monthly long-video views | At $1 RPM | At $4 RPM | At $10 RPM |
|---|---|---|---|
| 10,000 | $10 | $40 | $100 |
| 100,000 | $100 | $400 | $1,000 |
| 1,000,000 | $1,000 | $4,000 | $10,000 |
| 10,000,000 | $10,000 | $40,000 | $100,000 |
Our calculation using the $1 to $10 long-video RPM range most channels fall in. Channels with mostly US, UK and Canadian viewers usually sit in the upper half; finance and tech with US viewers can be higher, gaming and entertainment are often lower.
In the tier sections below, the monthly view numbers are example inputs, not averages. Plug in your own views from YouTube Studio for a real estimate.
How much is 1,000 subscribers worth on YouTube?
Directly, nothing. But 1,000 subscribers is the point where a channel can qualify for ad revenue, as long as it also meets the watch-time or Shorts-views requirement. Until the channel is in the YouTube Partner Program, its views earn $0.
Worked example: a newly monetized channel with 1,000 subscribers getting 20,000 long-video views a month (example input) earns 20,000 ÷ 1,000 × $1 to $10 = about $20 to $200 a month from ads. With 5,000 views a month, it is $5 to $50.
How much does a YouTuber with 10,000 subscribers make?
At 10,000 subscribers, earnings depend almost entirely on how active the channel is and how well its videos rank in search and recommendations.
- Example: 50,000 long-video views a month → 50 × $1 to $10 = $50 to $500 a month.
- Example: 200,000 long-video views a month → 200 × $1 to $10 = $200 to $2,000 a month.
At this size, many creators earn as much from affiliate links or a first small sponsor as from ads.
How much does a YouTuber with 100K subscribers make?
This is the "100k subscribers on YouTube salary" question, and there is no fixed salary. A 100,000-subscriber channel that uploads every week and gets recommended can earn a solid monthly income; one that stopped uploading may earn very little.
| Example monthly views (100K subscribers) | Monthly ad earnings at $1 to $10 RPM | Yearly |
|---|---|---|
| 100,000 (quiet channel) | $100 to $1,000 | $1,200 to $12,000 |
| 500,000 (active channel) | $500 to $5,000 | $6,000 to $60,000 |
| 2,000,000 (very active channel) | $2,000 to $20,000 | $24,000 to $240,000 |
Example inputs, not averages. Ad revenue only, before tax; sponsors, memberships and affiliate income come on top.
Where a 100K channel lands inside each range is mostly about audience country and niche. The same 500,000 monthly views would usually sit near the bottom of the range with a mostly South Asian audience and near the top with a US audience in finance or tech.
How much does a YouTuber with 1 million subscribers make?
Again, it depends on views. A 1-million-subscriber channel might get anywhere from a few hundred thousand to tens of millions of views a month.
- Example: 1 million long-video views a month → $1,000 to $10,000 a month from ads.
- Example: 5 million long-video views a month → $5,000 to $50,000 a month from ads.
- Example: 5 million Shorts views a month → $150 to $500 a month, because Shorts pay about $0.03 to $0.10 per 1,000 views.
That last line explains why some huge Shorts channels earn surprisingly little from YouTube itself. At this level, most creators make a large part of their income from sponsors, products and memberships rather than ads.
What subscribers are actually worth
- They see your new videos first, which gives each upload a strong start and helps it get recommended.
- 1,000 subscribers is a requirement for ad revenue, and 500 for the fan-funding tier in countries where it is available.
- Loyal subscribers join memberships, send Super Thanks, buy products and click affiliate links.
- Sponsors look at engaged subscribers and typical views per video when they set a price.
How to estimate your own channel's earnings
- In YouTube Studio, open Analytics and note your views for the last 28 days.
- If you are monetized, open the Revenue tab and note your RPM. If not, use $1 to $3 for a worldwide audience or $4 to $8 for a mostly US and UK audience as a starting guess.
- Multiply: views ÷ 1,000 × RPM. That is your monthly ad estimate.
- Ignore your subscriber count in this calculation. It does not change the result.
Skip the YPP wait
If you would rather not spend months qualifying, our monetized YouTube channels are already in the YouTube Partner Program with 1,000+ organic subscribers. To be clear about what that means: a monetized channel earns nothing by itself. Income starts when you upload videos that get views, and then every one of those views can earn from day one.
How much does YouTube pay per subscriber?
Nothing. YouTube pays for ad views and YouTube Premium views on monetized channels, not for subscribers.
How much is 1,000 subscribers worth on YouTube?
$0 directly. Once a 1,000-subscriber channel is monetized, its income depends on views: for example, 20,000 long-video views a month pays about $20 to $200.
How much does a YouTuber with 10K subscribers make?
It depends on views. At 50,000 to 200,000 long-video views a month, roughly $50 to $2,000 a month from ads at a $1 to $10 RPM.
How much does YouTube pay for 100K subscribers?
Subscribers do not pay. A 100K channel getting 500,000 long-video views a month would earn about $500 to $5,000 a month from ads.
How much does a YouTuber with 1 million subscribers make?
It depends on views. With 1 million long-video views a month, roughly $1,000 to $10,000 from ads; with 5 million, about $5,000 to $50,000.
Do subscribers who don't watch earn me anything?
No. Only views that earn ad or YouTube Premium revenue pay, so inactive subscribers add nothing to your income.
