How long does it take to transfer a YouTube channel?

Adding a new Owner takes minutes once the invite is accepted. YouTube only lets that person become Primary owner after being an Owner for 7 days, so a full transfer takes at least a week.

Why do I have to wait 7 days to become primary owner?

It is a YouTube safety rule for Brand Accounts: a new Owner must hold the role for 7 days before primary ownership can move to them. It protects channels from instant takeovers.

When can I change the AdSense account after buying a channel?

Once you control the channel. In YouTube Studio → Earn, select Change next to the linked AdSense account. YouTube allows one change every 32 days, and a brand-new AdSense account can take several days to 2–3 weeks to be approved.

What should I do right after the transfer?

Remove every other owner and manager, turn on 2-step verification, change the channel email and recovery options, and link your own AdSense. Then keep uploading so the channel stays active.

Is the date calculation exact?

The 7-day and 32-day rules come from YouTube Help. AdSense approval times vary, so treat those dates as estimates.
